Makani is an exciting young trotter with a serious pedigree and an even brighter future. A ¾ brother to GUS, the 2025 Dominion Handicap Trot winner, Makani is already showing strong family traits at the trials and is shaping as a progressive horse who can climb the grades with time and experience.

“Makani is the star of my stable. He has a beautiful temperament and is a lovely, well-put-together horse. I think in 6–12 months, with more experience under his belt, he can mature into a trotter who will go through the grades.
His first start didn’t tell the full story. He got startled in the score-up and made a break, but the sectionals he ran behind them were very smart.
While there’s been interest from overseas buyers, this is a horse I believe can fly the flag for my training career, and I’m thrilled to welcome long-term supporter Off n Racing and their members into the ownership to share the journey.”

This structure is designed to keep ownership simple and transparent. The upfront fee includes two full years of training, allowing Makani the time to develop and mature properly. If he progresses into the horse we believe he can be, the monthly fee from 2028 aligns with having a trotter who is already performing and delivering plenty of excitement on the track.
